Fake Freckles: What They Are and How Much They Cost

Content

Freckles have long been covered up with makeup. Today, many want the opposite: a few fine dots across the nose and cheeks that are still there after showering. That is exactly what Fake Freckles are for.

    What are Fake Freckles?

Fake Freckles, sometimes also called Faux Freckles, are freckles that are placed in the skin using a gentle pigmenting technique. Technically, this is a form of permanent makeup. They are placed dot by dot, in different sizes and shades of brown. After all, real freckles don't all look the same.

Is this the same as getting freckles tattooed?

Essentially, yes. The difference lies in the depth. In classic tattooing, the color goes deep into the skin and stays forever. With freckles, the work is done much shallower, using pigments that are designed for this. That is why the dots look soft and fade on their own over time.

Most clients want exactly that: natural instead of tattooed, and not set for the rest of their lives.

    How does a treatment work?

    1. Consultation. You clarify how subtle or bold it should be and which shade suits the skin.
    2. Mapping. Every freckle is mapped out first. The client looks in the mirror and says what she wants to change. This is where the result is decided, not during the pigmenting.
    3. Pigmenting. Only when the mapping is set is the color placed in the skin.
    4. Touch-up. After six to eight weeks, the areas that need it are touched up.

At the Savage Beauty studio in Cologne, the first treatment takes 75 to 120 minutes depending on the scope.

How much do Fake Freckles cost?

The price depends mainly on how many freckles are placed. For reference, here are the prices from our studio in Cologne:

    Package Duration Price
    Petite XS 75 min. €349
    Soft S 75 min. €449
    Classic M 90 min. €549
    Signature M+ 105 min. €669
    Intense L 120 min. €769

The touch-up after six to eight weeks is booked separately and costs from €99.

How can you tell if the result is good?

    • The dots are irregularly distributed. They are denser across the bridge of the nose and cheeks, and fade out towards the sides.
    • The size and shade vary. A pattern that looks like it was stamped immediately looks artificial.
    • After healing, no color haze remains.

You won't see the final result on the day of the treatment. Quality shows in the healing and in how the freckles look later. This depends on the technique and the pigments.

For beauty artists: Is it worth offering?

Many people now offer brows, lips, and lashes, and clients often only compare the price. With freckles, it is different because so few can do it yet.
